I've tried switching over to Mail from AOL, and I've been partially successful. I can receive mail, but for some reason I can't send mail. I get this every time that I try to send one...

**This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.

The sender address (my web address here) was rejected by the server**

I know it's probably something relatively simple, but I'm not very well-educated as far as all this is concerned. Could someone give me something to try? Thanks in advance.

It's possible that your ISP is blocking port 25 for sending mail. Just change the outgoing server to what your ISP recommends and try sending that way.

AOL doesn't use the normal port 25 for SMTP; it uses (I think) 587. Do you have it set to send on the right port?

I would image that AOL use authentication for SMTP, so you will also want to check on that.

It uses password authentication, but if you don't supply one, Mail should ask you.

No, Mail only asks for a POP3 or IMAP password. If the server requires a SMTP password it simply fails, there was never a negotiation phase built into the SMTP protocol, so it simply rejects and breaks the connection. If your server needs SMTP authentication, you have to know it and set your client to handle it.
