I need to install VPC 7 on a new machine, but I only have the upgrade version as I also have VPC 6 w/Windows 2000. My question is:

Can I install the VPC 7 application first and then somehow install the Windows 2000 OS from my VPC 6 disks? Or do I have to install VPC 6 first and then add the upgrade?

To me it seems silly to install VPC 6 if I will never use it.

Confused.......

Please help...

If Version 7 upgrade works like their prior versions then you will infact have to install version 6. The upgrade will only install if its present and convert an existing VPC image.
FWIW that's how most upgrades works.

I had existing Win2K images set up from VPC6 on one machine and when I installed VPC 7.01 on my new machine was able to simply upgrade the Virtual Machine instances by importing them to VPC7 - so you should be okay to just copy the machine image

Backup everything first !

I tried installing the VPC 7 and it seems to have installed fine - now all I have to do is install the W2k.

How do I install just the W2k OS from my VPC6 disks?

Thanks for your help
