Convert PAL DVD to NTSC?

I bought some Australian DVDs that I need to convert to NTSC and am not quite sure how. If I just make a copy of the movie using FastDVDCopy, it strips the region off, but leaves it in PAL format. Although my Mac will play the PAL movie just fine, my home DVD player will not.

How do I do the conversion?

I did a few searches and saw some recommendations - using MPEG2 Works and JES Deinterlacer, but I'm not quite sure how to do that... anyone?

I've tried the same thing with MPEG2 Works but it would always crash before I could get it to do anything. Hopefully someone have the answer for you. The information would be appreciated.
