There's lots of software similar to Paperport in that I have no idea what it does. If you could explain specifically what you need, it might be more helpful.

Isn't that just scanning software? Try Macupdate and search for "scanner." VueScan is the 3rd party solution everyone seems to love.

OK. It looks like it's a PDF document manager. A couple of things:

1) OS X will, most likely, save everything as a PDF natively. You can print PDFs from any printable application.

2) The next revision to OS X will include search technology that will most likely make most methods of organization pretty obsolete. You'll just search for what you want, and it'll search even within PDFs

3) Most of the 3rd party document managers out there (MacJournal, StickyBrain [this is what I use], and DevonThink/DevonNote) will manage PDFs natively. Just scan your file and drag it into the manager.

4) If you want to edit PDFs, you'll need Adobe Acrobat.

5) Welcome to the boards.

It's not a pdf manager, it's a scanner manager. I have the software on my PC and it basically allows you to scan an image, import it, and save it. There's definitely alternatives on the Mac side, but you're still going to need a driver for your scanner.

The scanner I have is a Visioneer OneTouch 8700USB, and unfortunately it's windows-only.

It doesn't work with VueScan? I've found that works independent of what drivers you have on your system.

The vuescan site specifically lists it as unsupported.
