I've got a flv (flash video) movie file that I'd like to post on my website, but I'm having the hardest time ever figuring out how to get it to show up on my web page. So instead, I'd like to convert it to another file format (i.e. quicktime or the like) that I do know how to embed properly. Anyone have any suggestions for applications that will do this?

1. download the trial version of Flash MX 2004.
2. use it.
it's that easy.

Not quite that easy, but after playing with the settings for an hour I got it working perfectly (it wasn't playing the video at the correct fps, so the audio and video were becoming very much out of sync).
Thanks!

Sounds like you've got it figured out, but just to mention, QuickTime can play Flash movies, so I'd assume QuickTime Pro could convert them to other formats. (Don't have QuickTime Pro anymore, though, so I can't check.)

Quicktime can only play flash movies that are embedded in a swf file, afaik. Just tried opening a .flv file and QT Player beachballed. VLC will play them though, so you might also be able to use the advanced output option to convert it to something else.

Also, unless I'm mistaken QuickTime only supports an earlier version of the Flash format (Flash 5, I think). If you have a .swf of any later version, you're not going to be able to make it work.
