The poll itself is for browser speed only. We can get into the minutiae of page loading vs. rendering speed vs. perception of speed if you'd like in the replies. Comments regarding tradeoffs between speed and features are welcome as well. But the bottom line for me as far as this thread is concerned is that I'm growing increasingly concerned that Safari, which was on top as far as speed was concerned, is now falling noticeably behind in this area to Firefox and Camino. When I go to a wide variety of webpages it just seems that with Firefox/Camino the page just loads almost instantly. But with Safari, I seem to be waiting for that blue progress bar to finish for a second or two longer than with these other browsers. Perhaps that is part of the problem. The blue progress bar makes is a lot more visible that the page is still loading whereas with Firefox/Camino the spinning wheel is a lot more subtle. But that doesn't appear to be the only thing IMO. Safari just doesn't seem to load as fast. Even after doing the "defaults write com.apple.Safari WebKitInitialTimedLayoutDelay 0.25" trick.
