Hey everyone,
I am looking for a simple OS X Spreadsheet that is not MS Excel. I do not want to use alpha- or beta-software - such as NeoOffice -, as I need the software for work, so it's gotta work. In addition, I do not need a lot of options; simply put, I need an app in which I can add numbers in columns - it's a simple task, but Pages can't handle it albeit supporting tables. Any ideas? I don't want to use Ragtime, it would be a complete overkill for what I want to do.
Ideas?
Steve

If you can handle dealing with fink, have a look at gnumeric. It's definitely not beta software, and can easily accomplish what you're looking for. It's free, and has a small footprint.

As usual, a quick trip to MacUpdate would have solved your problem.

Nothing wrong with NeoOffice/J. It's not beta. Look at the release number.
It's no more likely to crash in your usage as an adding machine than Excel, or anything else for that matter.

If I did not have MS Office and Excel, the next choice I would go with is Mariner Calc.
A bit back, I demoed a bunch of word and spreadsheet apps (before iWorks came out). To me it seemed the Mariner line was the best alternative to MS Office, though in the end I chose MS Office because there are a number of features that nobody else offers (at least not in one package).

Being "beta," which it's not, is no reason to discount NeoOffice/J

This suggestion is a little out in left field, but if all you need is to add numbers in columns, you might want to look at OmniOutliner. It supports multiple numeric columns and sums.
