Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

Just tried it with a site that's been throwing annoying pop-ups at me, and it seems to work. Hopefully Apple will take a cue from this with the next version of Safari.

People using the new pop-up capabilities say that Firefox is simply being more strict now, and that user-initiated pop-ups (like a lot of web-based applications use) don't work any more. That's not really a solution.

I've never got one of these clever pop-ups or pop-unders while using Omniweb.

I wonder what OmniWeb is doing that Safari isn't? I hope Apple does something about this though.

Actually it is because you can whitelist sites to allow popups.

Pop Up ads are getting annoying again using Safari...

is there way to simply disable FLASH on Safari to stop these type of flash based popups now?

I despise flash websites anyhow so would be happy to get rid of flash.

Pithhelmet. Or maybe Safari 2.0.

Firefox is too strict with this plugin installed. It even blocks links that point to pages on other sites.

White-listing is not a reasonable option for the average home user, whom Firefox is actively targeting. My parents, for example, would never be able to figure it out. Firefox just needs to work.

Boo-hoo. You're highly unrealistic. This isn't "magic", it's code.

Indeed. How many sites do you visit that have to be able to open a new window through Flash anyway?

None, my objection is to the reports that Firefox now blocks all or most user-initiated pop-ups. I do use several sites that require this behaviour.

I'm not saying computer-savvy users can't work around it with whitelists and what-not. I am saying that this way, things no longer just work like they should on a Mac. In other words, the problem of blocking Flash pop-ups without hampering the program's usability does not appear to have been solved yet.

I hardly see how that's unrealistic! Omniweb does it.

I haven't experienced any of these new (Flash-based?) pop-up/unders (touch-wood).

Do I need to go to some porn sites or somethin?
