I use Geektool to show me stuff in the background on my desktop. I have a website stats page that shows me the visits to my site, I would really like to get these stats on my desktop. The stats website offers a tab delimited download, so I have a script that downloads it via cron every 15 minutes, trims it up a bit and shows me the last 10 entries or so. The entries are tab delimited, and that is my problem.. GeekTook seems to compress the tabs to spaces, I am sure it is a bug in GeekTool, but there is little chance to see a fix since it has not been updated in so long.
I have looked at other desktop background apps to see if I can just show the browser window in the background, all of them are pretty poor and do not do what I need.
Any suggestions on how to get what I am after? I know dashboard is a prime tool for this, but I want to do this now, Konfabulator is an option, but I wold rather not learn how to make a widget for just this one case.
