My computer has the preference under Security checked to ask for password after waking up or returning from Screen Saver. That seems to create some conflict with staying awake after waking up.

I want to be able to keep the computer awake after it wakes up from sleep and no password is entered or attempted to have been entered.

The computer just goes back to sleep in about 60 sec. upon wake-up if I don't touch it. The problem is I record radiostreams early in the morning. I don't want to leave the computer running all night just to record two hours of radio from 5 to 7 in the morning.

Any advice would be much desired and appreciated.

Set it so the screen saver goes on before it goes to sleep.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

Wow, that tip worked!

Now, if I can only get a screensaver to come on before I want the Mac to go to sleep. The problem is, when AudioHijack is running it somehow disables the screensaver from starting up. I will need an an applescript to start up a screensaver and then just use Cronnix on it. What is the command for starting the screensaver? Does anyone know by any chance? Thanks again!

I did this command in the Terminal and at first I thought it worked fine. But then, I couldn't disable the SS. So, I had to essentially reboot.

here's the command:

"/System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework/Resources/ScreenSaverEngine.app/Contents/MacOS/ScreenSaverEngine"

Okay, how about this one?

Make a separate user to run your automated tasks. Then, use Fast User Switching so that the active user is someone else. Set this other user not to require a password on wakeup.
