Okay, I had to deal with Word files, and usually I do this with Word 2001 in Classic. The only problem is, I got a new Epson printer recently and have not installed the Classic drivers, so I cannot print in Classic. Rather than install the drivers, I went looking for a shareware reader that would do a decent job. I came upon icWord by Panergy Software. One poster on MacUpdate indicate that it did not preserve formatting well, but for relatively simple documents it does so fine. Apparently did a better job (I believe) at preserving formatting from the document than 2001 did. It's still not a complete native replacement for Word like NeoOffice or OpenOffice, but in conjunction with Word 2001 in Classic this will serve me well. (I also do not have to deal with the bulky footprint of those open source alternatives.) And at only $20, I think it's a great deal. The company also produces icExcel.

Why do you want to replace NeoOffice?

Well, I really have not given NeoOffice a chance based on its reputation of sluggishness and the fact that it would have taken too much time to download and install it - I needed the functionality immediately this afternoon.
