Both at home and at work I have a dual 2.0 GHz G5. At work, I use Firefox for a variety of reasons one of which being Safari doesn't like the configuration page for the office firewall. I want to switch to Firefox at home too because it's faster and because it's a pain in the ass having to switch back and forth between two sets of keyboard shortcuts for the same operations, but I can't because it won't render certain sites properly on my home computer.
I'm at work right now so I can't post any screenshots of what it does, but basically on some pages (livejournal, for example, as well as another similar, private online community that I frequent) certain lines of text will be displayed in the wrong font and then go right over the right edge of the div tag and right off the screen. No scroll bar will appear, and there's no way of actually finding out what the hidden text says other than looking at the source for the page. I've noticed that it only seems to happen in post from certain people (on both sites), even though they don't seem to be doing anything screwey with their formatting. I've tried everything short of reinstalling OS X trying to fix this.
Has anyone encountered this before and know a fix? Can anyone think of some obscure setting or software conflict that could cause something like this?

What are the differences between the two setups? I can only think of three things that are likely to cause such a problem:
1. You have an older version of Firefox at home.
2. You have an extension installed that's messing with the boxes.
3. You're using a custom stylesheet.

Same version of OS X, same version of Firefox, no Firefox extensions installed at home, no custom stylesheet.

Have you tried trashing your profile folder (~/Library/Application Support/Firefox)?

More generally, have you tried creating another user to see if it's something wrong with your account or whether it's something wrong with the system or program?

I'm pretty sure I tried it with another user already, but I'll try it again when I get home.

Ok, I tried running Firefox under another user and the problem went away. I can't figure out what the difference is between the two users though. I've deleted all the Firefox settings under my main user, I've gotten rid of all the startup items just in case, and the problem was still there. I even turned on FileVault with the second user in case that was what caused it, but no.
I'm really stumped here. Unless there's some sort of display setting in the System Prefs that's different for my main user than my new user (which I'm checking out right now) I can't imagine what could be causing this.

Ok, here's a screenshot. It's not the exact problem I mentioned above, but I'm pretty sure it's a related one.
