Select a .pdf file and click "command + i", then select Adobe Reader in "Open with:"

I am curious, why do you want to change the default pdf reader to Adobe Reader?

Actually no I'm not... my iMac asks... my G4 does not... I'm wondering if there is some sort of change in the system or the app or what... (the G4 is most current on both)

You mean the "Make default" button doesn't work on your computer?

No it works... but what I was really looking for was a way to set it in Acrobat. It's not there any more and it does not ask. I just downloaded an update for it and it said my app needed to be repaired... maybe it's broke
