iMaginator
iMaginator provides over 106 effects, transitions and filters to let you alter images in real time, providing an intuitive and easy to use interface for Mac OS X 10.4's Core Image technology. Layer images and text and apply any number of effects to achieve astounding artistic results. You can instantly save processed images to TIFF, JPEG or create QuickTime movies.

According to Stone Design CEO Andrew Stone, “iMaginator must be seen to be believed! When Tiger ships, just download it and you’ll see that this application truly unleashes the Tiger. Users of Stone Studio and Create will recognize the easy to use features such as the Effects/Images library and the Image Drag Well for instant saving of images and chains of effects for later reuse.”
I wonder if it will run on my old non-Shader 2.0 GPUs. My guess is yes, but I'll lose the real-time effects for much of it.

Still, it looks very interesting.

Their website is produced using their Vector based drawing/dtp/WYSIWYG webdesign app 'Create' - eating your own dogfood if you like.

Hmmm... if that's what Create can do... I think they need to update their software

Seriously, I've checked out Stone's site before... and every time I don't even bother trying their stuff cause their site looks down right crappy...

that's really weird cos usually most people are very positive about the software. I haven't really used it myself (already having the adobe playpen and no justification to spend MORE money! )

Hey... their website may not be exciting but the 'Create' application is superb. The closest equivalent is Illustrator but it also has Page Layout and HTML built in. I find it has replaced AppleWorks as the App I turn to when I want to create a diagram, a logo, a map, anything. I use it to create all the graphics on my websites and lots of print stuff as well.. flyers, ads, Christmas Cards etc. Although the interface is simple (esp. compared to the Adobe apps) it has alot of power under the hood and is organized quite logically. It gets updated once a month or so (often with new features) and the head programmer answers e-mail quickly.

This new application looks great and follows this company's tradition of harnessing ALL the power of the OS. It's free to try it out... so give it a shot.

Cheers!
Fink Different eh!
