What an awesome program. Are they coming out with a newer version or is the Dashboard in Tiger replacing it?

There might be some who are unfamiliar with it (like I was before), so I'll describe the cool features it has. Note, everything I mention below is done in the same application without opening other windows.

- Internet searching
- Stocks: research quotes, see articles about the stock, see graphs etc.
- Movies: find movie times, descriptions, posters and trailers.
- Phone book
- eBay: search and track eBay auctions; you can see the actual auction details in Sherlock along with pictures just as you would in a web browser.
- Flights: find flight numbers, departure times, arrival times for hundreds of airlines and airports.
- Dictionary/thesaurus
- Translation: translate stuff into different languages
- AppleCare: search AppleCare documents.

All of those things are very useful and I'm surprised I don't hear more about Sherlock!

It's more or less going to be replaced by Dashboard.

I think Sherlock it not a very good program. Everything you mentioned is at least as well covered by a bookmark in your browser. The real strength of Sherlock only surfaces when it pulls together information from different sites and combines them to something with unique usefulness. Unfortunately hardly any Sherlock developers every had the creativity to make such kind of plug-ins. The Movie thing is the only one I am aware of.
