In a few months I will be embarking on a little DVD slideshow project for my sister's wedding. I have a powerbook that doesn't have a DVD burner, and will soon be purchasing a mini, but don't really want to shell out the extra $100 for the Superdrive. I have a Windows PC will a DVD burner, but as much time as I will be devoting to this project, I'd really like to do it on a Mac rather than fuss with Windows. Is is possible to either export an iMovie movie to Windows, or somehow have the Mac recognize the DVD burner on the PC over the network or something?

You could export the iMovie to a quicktime movie file to play on the PC with no problem, then get a program for PC that will burn quicktime movies to a DVD-Video.

However iDVD is a fantastic program for this, and the integration with iMovie is tight. In your shoes, I would think the extra $100 for the Superdrive to be well worth the hassle of avoiding Windows DVD burning.

i would go for the $100 for the superdrive.
when i was going to buy my 12" powerbook last year i did not want to pay the $200 for the superdrive, but due to me getting the last combo drive one they had in stock and the fact that it had a broken speaker, i paid the $200 (and because i am impatient).

i will never get another powerbook without a superdrive. i did not think i'd use it, but i use it all the time. backing up is so much easier with 4.3gig versus 600mb. and the ability to be able to write an imovie and mail to dvd is worth it.

i suggest the superdrive.
