Sorry for such a basic question, but I was wondering how I could view the entire photo at its original size? When I click on the photo in iPhoto, it is limited to how big the iPhoto window is. I have been using the edit in a new screen option, but that still doesnt not open up the image to its original size. Thanks for the help.

The 'Edit in new window' option can show it at its original size, just choose 100% from that menu at the bottom of the window.

I agree there should be a way in the main window too though, iPhoto could still be more intuitive.

File -> Export

Well, I should hope so. Photoshop is a $600 program, whereas iPhoto is a small part of a $79 suite, or a free one if you use an old version or get a new Mac.

yea but iphoto isnt as great as i thought it would be. guess i just hyped it up too much. i do love how it arranges the photos though.

i found out how to reduce the image size by exporting. guess i was just too bitter because i didnt know how to use the program. i still want cs1 though. tough.

The whole point of iPhoto is to organise your photos. It also offers common photo-retouching tools. It isn't supposed to even come close to replacing Photoshop. Anyone who is serious about photos would also have Photoshop for the editing.

I thought that was pretty much the entire point of iPhoto... organizing your digital photos.

asodamiac: if you don't already know, you can actually set an external program to edit your photos, within iPhoto's preferences.

This way, when you double click a photo, it will open it in a program of your choice (such as Photoshop). If you require more control than the options iPhoto gives you, yet still want it for organisation this works well.

...Or simply drag the photo thumbnail from iPhoto into an editing app of your choice.

This is where someone mentions GraphicConverter, a great shareware app with tons of image editing features. You can set this as your iPhoto editor, too.
