I was checking out the iTunes music store to see if the Australia store had opened yet. When I found out it hadn't, I decided to browse the music in the USA iTunes store. For the hell of it, I tried purchasing the Devils & Dust song. Couldn't believe it when it worked! Never been able to do this before, as it's always blocked me out saying I was from Australia which didn't have a iTunes store.

I did reset safari last night. Maybe that did something? Or maybe since the Australian iTunes store is about to open that helped? Also all of my Music store preferences are still tied into my bank in the USA so maybe that helped. I don't know why it happened but I'm sitting here in Australia able to purchase songs from the USA iTunes store. Pretty cool!

I moved to Australia in January. Hadn't been able to download from the USA store until now. I guess resetting safari must've had something to do with it?

You can order songs from wherever your bank is located. My bank is BoA but I've bought songs from the iTMS in Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai and Sydney.

However, even while you are in Australia, you won't be able to buy from the Aussie iTMS unless you have a bank credit/debit card from a bank located Down Under.

Damn! What a Rip-off! We pay a 50c Australian premium! 99c US should be around $1.27.
In vino veritas.

US prices don't include tax.

Australian prices do include tax. Plus allow a bit of room for the exchange rate to move, means there is probably about a 15 cent 'Aussie surcharge', not 50 cent.

But still 40c is still a bit steep. With tax the price should be $1.40 (GST is only 10%). 29c makes quite a bit of difference, because when you buy a multitude of songs the difference becomes fairly great.
