How do you save flash (swf) files? If you buy Macromedia Flash MX 2004 will it allow you to save flash files? If not, are there any other programs or software that allows you to save it?

You can do it with just your browser and a download manager (like Monica or the built-in one in iCab). Just view the source, do a search for ".swf" (without quotes), that should bring up either the full path or a partial path. If it's a partial path it's relatively easy to find out the full path, it's usually the path to the webpage it's residing on, minus ".html" plus the path to the swf.

You can also use Firefox and Adblock to find out the path. When loads the swf it places an "Adblock"-tab over/under it, click that and it shows the full path to the swf and asks if you want to block it; copy the path and put it into a download manager.

If you have Safari you can open Activity viewer from the Window menu and then double-click the flash there.

^ I have safari opened to the swf file and I opened Activity viewer... but I can't find the flash file from there...

And I have the full path but how do I put it in the download manager? I don't see a option to enter the path name to download.

Click the disclosure triangles to reveal all the individual files that make the web page. The flash files have a .swf extension.

Just "Paste" the URL into the download manager window in Safari.

I don't see any little triangles... and I don't see a place where I can paste the URL in the download manager.

One doesn't see any place to paste the URL, but the Paste command works nevertheless. Just use it from the Edit menu when the Download manager is frontmost window and it will work.

And just to make sure, I was talking about the Activity window that is available from Safari's Window menu, not the Activity Monitor application.
