Hi!

Since I got my new router (Fritz! Box SL WLAN, not sure if it's available outside Germany) I get error messages about non forwarded ports when starting Azureus: "UPnP: Mapping 'TCP Tracker Port (TCP/6969)' failed", "UPnP: Mapping 'Incoming Peer Data Port (TCP/6881)' failed" and "UPnP: Mapping 'UDP Tracker Client Port (UDP/6881)' failed". Strange thing is, the ports are being forwarded in the router and I don't notice any decrease in dwonload performance. I didn't get those messages with the router I used before. Any ideas why that might be? Thanks!

Are they forwarded in the router because you explicitely set them up to do so or because the uPNP is working despite the errors?

If you manually set up the forwarding and don't need uPNP you can disable it in the plug-ins section of the Azeurus preferences. You could also check if the router has a way to enable uPNP. If the router supports uPNP you can remove your static port mappings.

Hi!

Ah, thanks, what you're saying sounds plausible. I set the port forwarding explicitly. Now that I've taken a closer look I noticed the router indeed offers an option to enable automatic port forwarding via UPnP, it is disabled at the moment. So basically this leaves me the options to enable UPnP in the router or disable it in Azureus, right? I don't know much about UPnP, actually I thought it was only available in Windows. So is it generally a good idea to let UPnP handle the port forwarding or is there drawback?

I don't claim to be an expert but I've experienced no problems with uPNP and my Linksys router. I find it a convenience and use it where possible.
