Is there a way to do this? I installed AOL to get internet access while DSL is being set up. God it sucks.

Tried entering access number, username, password in Internet Connect, and then connecting using modem in menu bar. Modem dials and connects, but then disconnects at the "Authenticating User" part. I tried several modes of my username (i.e. with and without the "@aol.com" after it).

Tried calling AOL's customer service, but they were about as helpful as a hole in my head.

Has anyone else been successful doing this? What is the trick? I'd like to save myself the step of launching AOL before launching my web browser and mail app.

Thanks in advance.

If you've got DSL you shouldn't need AOL software to get to the net. You probably just need to configure your network settings in the Network Preference Pane. Take a look at the PPPoE tab and see if you can put your information into those fields.

I don't have DSL yet...I installed AOL to get on the net while waiting the 2 weeks for DSL to get activated, modem to arrive, etc. I'm using it as an option to access the internet for free in the meantime...
