Okay, I'm a confused about how Apple wants us to handle saved workflows.

I get that saving a workflow as a Workflow (for File Format) will basically save it as a non-executable workflow – for the sake of future editing and what not. And I get that saving it as an Application will actually create the nice executable app.

Now, my questions: Are Workflow documents supposed to be saved in [FONT=Courier New]/Library/…/Automator/Workflows/[/FONT] and Applications in [FONT=Courier New]/Library/…/Automator/Workflows/Applications[/FONT]? I ask, because if I store an Application in the Applications folder (the main one that stores other apps), it loses its icon. Also, as far as I can tell, Apple seems to use the [FONT=Courier New]…/Workflows/Applications/[/FONT] folder for its "Example Workflows" folder (which, by the way, I'd like to get rid of, but I can't figure out how).

Maybe I'm just making this more complicated that it's supposed to be, but I just want to do things the way they were meant to be done. (I tried looking in Help, but it's killing my dial-up connection – I wish Apple would just have the files stored on the HD.)

Workflow documents and applications can be saved anywhere you want (I'm not losing the icon as you are, I can't explain that). Note that that applications can be open and edited just as .workflow documents.

Workflows that you want to use as contextual menu items need to go into
Code:
~/Library/Workflows/Applications/Finder/
Actions go into
Code:
~/Library/Automator/ or /Library/Automator/
