Hi,

I do a lot of free lance design and consulting, and as of late I have been using Excel for invoices and address book for contact management.

I have been trying to develop a good filemaker pro system to do all of the above and more, but I am wondering if there is already a solution out there that I can buy.

Does anyone have any good recommendations on what I should use? Should I buy software or a pre-made CMS thing for filemaker (still looking for one), or should I just develop my own.

Thanks,

Erik

For invoices I use Quickbooks But there are a few other less expenisve solutions out there. Just not sure what they are. You could do a search on versiontracker or macupdate.com and see what they have in the way of billing apps. See which one is best for you.

Thanks for replying so fast...

I have used quickbooks a bit and it is a good program yet I feel it will limit me down the road...

Perhaps I will be better off creating my own custom filemaker application...
What do you all think?

You could do that. I'm not very familiar with filemaker and wouldn't even know where to start with that. The last time I used Filemaker was at version 3.x.

Well, it's a question of time, resources and knowledge.
If you have that, of course, you could come up with your own solution.
I highly doubt you will get a cost efficient solution, though.

In what way is Quickbooks limiting ?
What functions do you need that are not available ?
Are you sure you could overcome these limitations by programming your own solution ?

For some billing and CRM, Quickbooks should be ok.
