Hi,

I'm about to purchase a Powerbook for use as a work computer, and would like to do regular (preferably automated) backups. I like the idea of .mac, but it seems like it might get problematic with large files (though, I'm not sure how many of these I'll realistically have), and something bothers me about backing up in such a hands off/offsite way. Not to mention I'm not sure if I'm crazy about the subscribtion fee. So what do other people use? Any suggestions for an external HD, and if it doesn't include backup software, any suggestions on that front? Are there any ideas I haven't considered? I don't like the idea of backing up on CD or DVD for various reasons, so leave that out please.

Thanks in advance
