I read a review, I don't know where, that was talking about a new application that would take video from a dvd and make a quick time movie of it. I think that's interesting but i can not find the app anywhere. Anybody know the name of the app?

It's not new, but are you thinking of Handbrake?

Similar... but this was for the specific purpose of extracting small scenes from movies.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

I'm not sure, but I think you can do what you want with a freeware app called MacTheRipper.

Well, it's actually notable (somewhat) that this app has an intention... or at least has been cleverly marketed as, an application specifically for retrieval of parts from dvd *movies*. Maybe it's my misinterpretation... I am only human.
