I upgraded to Tiger when it was released and didn't really think about testing Gimp with it - it's not something I use very often but it's handy to have.

I went to use Gimp the other night and it wouldn't launch properly so I went off and downloaded the update to 2.2.6, removed the previous version (something like 2.2.0) and installed 2.2.6.

When I try to open Gimp, X11 launches, Gimp appears to launch but all I get is a white box in the middle of the screen with a grey bar across the bottom of it. Someone on LJ said they'd had similar behaviour and simply opening up xterm then relaunching Gimp solved it but this hasn't worked for me.

Anybody got any ideas?

When you removed the old gimp did you use finder and also remove all related files? could be if there were remaining gimp data or config files that they are messing up.

When i installed Tiger i also have gimp problems, but removing gimp and all related files and then installing the 2.2.6 version of gimp fixed everything for me.

Remove ~/.gimp*

And use GimpShop.app --it's cool!
signatures are a waste of bandwidth
especially ones with political tripe in them.
