So I'm digging the new birthday calender, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to set alarms for these birthdays. I'd like a notification to remind of upcoming birthdays so I can buy presents etc. Am I missing something, or has apple missed something?

Thanks,

Ben

You gotta set the birthday of your contact in Address Book.

If you're missing something, then so am I. There doesn't seem to be any way of setting a reminder. Bugger. Looks like my family are getting late birthday cards again this year !

I suppose you could set up an automator action, and somehow get it to run every day ?

You are missunderstanding me. I have birthdays set for address book acounts, they apear in the new birthday calendar in iCal. But when I select a birthday in my calenday, I don't have the option to add an alarm like I do every other item in iCal. That is the problem. I can't figure out how to be reminded of these birthday with an alarm.

Oh, and I have sent this to apple feedback. I was just hoping that I missed an easy way to do it.

Yeah, I just realised that too.

Very weird implentation by Apple to say the least, I have all of mine set by hand in iCal with a reminder 7 days in advance so I can send a card.

Yeah that's what I was hoping to be able to do with this new birthday calendar. I guess it's kind of useless then. If anyone wants to help by sending some feedback to apple that would be great; I think this is a big oversight that should be fixed.

Thanks,

Ben

Also in Address Book you have to know the year the person was born, you just can't put March 10th if you do it will automatically make it 2005. Stupid.

It's been like this since... 10.2 or 10.3

I noticed this as well and also sent feedback. A glaring oversight IMO.
