I work on a large network. Right now I use a Tablet PC, with a USB to serial adapter to connect to the serial/consol port on various network devices- Extreme Networks, Cisco, Nortel, 3Com. I use tera term to connect, works great, well better then Hyperterm.
I am F-ing sick of using windoz! The tablet goes to sleep or hibernates about 1 out of 3 times. Even thought I choose "never Hibernate" takes over a minute to wake up from Hibernation. A minute can seem like forever when working on a key system. Drives me nuts/stresses me out!

I want to use my powerbook G4, however I can't figure out how to set this up. I have downloaded various terminal emulators; none lets me choose my COM port.
How, what do I need to do this?

Thanks,
Bob

I've used zterm and a keyspan usb-serial adapter to manage a hardware RAID 5 controller over it's serial port.
OS X: Where software installation doesn't require wizards with shields.
