Why isn't Safari compatible with Gmail's html formatting bar? The formatting bar appears when I use Firefox and Mozilla, but I can't see it with Safari. The same thing occurs with Fastmail.
Is there a defect in Safari or do Gmail and Fastmail have to add Safari support? In other words, should I hassle Dave Hyatt or Google?

I used to have trouble with the autofill, but now its a 50/50 thing. half the time it brings up the autofill names as I type, half the time it doesn't.

URL autofill is annoying. Whenever I type in a domain name and hit Return, it autofills some long string from a page within that site, and sends me there instead.
In my experience, though, form autofill works pretty well.

well this is a gmail specific issue. On other browsers, such as firefox or ie, the autofill for the address works great. its a feature of gmail, just like software mail apps autofill addresses, the webmail (gmail) does the same
I just downloaded firefox for osx, and tried gmail there. all the functions work as they should... email addy autofill, rich text... everythign works muy bueno.
looks like its just a safari issue.

1. Safari 1.3 (2.0) just added rich-text editing, so it's up to Gmail now to enable that functionality for visitors who use Safari.
2. Safari 1.3 introduced an accidental bug in XML-http-request, which is the method Gmail uses for its drop-down autofill menu. This will undoubtedly be fixed in the next Safari update.
