Hey everyone,

I just recently made the big change to OS X... I have used Thunderbird regularly now for a long time, but I'm looking to permanently move to Mail.app. Keep in mind I'm using Tiger, so it's the newest version of Mail.

I've tried importing the my mail from Thunderbird without success. The biggest problem is that when the mail is imported, the number of eMails in each imported folder is NOT correct.

For example, I have an inbox that is being imported that has 1200 messages in Thunderbird. When I import the folder into Mail.app, Mail only shows the folder to have approximately 600 messages! Keep in mind that most if not all of the folders that I'm transfering to Mail (from Thunderbird) show a wrong number of eMails (the number of eMails in Mail is lower than it should be, as Thunderbird shows more eMails than what Mail shows).

I haven't been able to figure out what is going on.

Can anyone please provide me with some insight as to how to properly import my eMails to Mail? I'd really appreciate any help; I've been tinkering with this for a while now and have been unable to get everything working correctly.

Any thoughts/ideas/help appreciated.

twista, just following those directions won't work. what do you think we originally tried first? it's the fact that thunderbird lazily follows the mbox standard. the link I posted shows a python script that cleans the file that thunderbird produces. try reading the article I posted.

Oops, sorry. I'm considering moving to Thunderbird so I was doing some research. Sucks that it didn't work. Thanks for the info.
