Installed Tiger a few weeks ago. I just opened image capture in order to change one of the preferences, but when I choose preferences nothing happens.I tried both when my nikon d70 was connected and when it wasn't.

Any idea what's going on here?

I just installed Tiger on my new iMac G5, and I have the same problem: When selecting preferences for Image Capture, nothing happens. It doesn't matter if I have a camera connected or not.

I am also unable to change the "Download To" location, or the "Automated Task." Does anybody know how to fix this? Apple denies that there is a problem.

Have you moved the Image Capture.app from the Applications folder?

I had mine in a subfolder for graphics programs. Works fine when I move it back to Applications, stops when anywhere else.

What do ya know! Works like a charm.

Yes, I had moved the app into a child folder (to help clean up and stay organized) and as soon as I moved it back into the Applications parent directory it worked perfectly. Thanks for the help!

I tried putting an alias in the Graphics subfolder, but running it from that seems to have the same problem. (The idea was to hide the copy in Applications by renaming it to .Image Capture.app using the terminal).

Looks like the folder that it's started from is passed to the program as a variable when it's run, and if it isn't Applications things screw up. If this was open source even a novice programmer like me could fix this in 5 minutes.
