I downloaded Project M, but I'm sorry to say, it sucks ass. First off, it wasn't centered on my 20" cinema.... it was in the upper right hand corner. Secondly, it wasn't anywhere NEAR what I've seen milkdrop able to do..... is Milkdrop ever going to get ported?

You might want to consider G-Force. Apple actually adapted an old version of G-Force for their default visualizer, but that was a long time ago, and it has improved greatly since then.

What is it about Milkdrop that's so good? I've heard many people say they prefer one or the other, but the split seems about 50/50 these days. I don't have much experience with Milkdrop, so I'd appreciate any information.

As for porting MilkDrop, you should be aware that this won't be a trivial effort. MilkDrop uses Microsoft's Direct3D technology, and so it is heavily dependent on Windows. Although a port to real standards like OpenGL can be done, this is not an easy thing to do. Project M isn't even at version 1.0 yet, so give it some time.

Milkdrop just produces visualizations that are EXTREMELY complex, and extremely fluid. Instead of two blazing rings with a couple dots beeping bigger and smaller like geforce, I've seen AMAZING presets on milkdrop, like a pattern almost like the head of a rose with 600 pedals pulsating to to the music, hallways that move around, a bunch of cylinders pumping sideways, all sorts of insane stuff. Milkdrop is... I hate to say it, not even in the same LEAGUE as geforce. It's not even a comparison. Milkdrop blows it out of the water, and while it's still flailing around, it pumps it full of lead in mid air. It's really that much of a difference.

Here's a link, but keep in mind these are STILL images. Plus, these don't get anywhere near as complex as I've seen it go, making some pretty insane images... and they're all so FLUID. Geforce seems like donkey turds in comparison.

Am I the only one that hides iTunes when it's playing so I can get work done?

I never really got the point of visualizers.
signatures are a waste of bandwidth
especially ones with political tripe in them.

That's great. Glad you clicked on this then.

I never really got the point of anybody who can't enjoy some pretty sweet visualizations.

Don't be so daft.

I clicked because I have an open mind and was hoping to see something cool.

Instead, I see a bunch of screenshots of fractals and plasma. Big whoop. I watched Demos in the early 90s on my 486 that had the same crap.

You obviously haven't seen Milkdrop in action. If you have a PC, install it, watch it for 15 minutes and post here again. I have a feeling your attitude would be quite different.

Perhaps. Fortunately for me, I have no Microsoft products in my house. So I guess I'll take your word that it's something special.

Tell you what, you give us a video not some half-assed screenshots that look like fractals with way too much black background on them. None of those screenshots floated my boat. G-Force Pro definitely looks a lot better than that.

Tell you what, take your demands and shove them. I don't own a PC, my friends do, and it kicks the **** out of G-Force. If you honestly think that G-Force is even in the same league, you're just spouting ignorance.

I think there'd be a huge market for it. With more and more mac users, we just really really really need a better visualization.

On the other hand, powertripping, you're not helping your cause at all with your attitude.

Seems somewhat silly to get your panties in a knot over something so inconsequential, I'm sure you'll all agree.
