Im using mail 2 on tiger and have a problem that falls back to panther (if not before). Spam determination in Mail has been great. I have it marked to put spam into a folder called "junk " and to erase messages in the junk folder over a day old. I usually don't turn off my Mac and major programs like safari and mail are on for weeks. I've noticed that messages marked as spam are neatly put into the junk folder but sit there and never get erased despite the fact that I have indicated to erase messages in the junk folder that have been there longer than a day. The junk folder can grow to 100+ messages in 3 days! Mail seems to ignore the rule to erase messages in the junk folder older than a day. But here's the weird part - I restart mail and it erases any message older than a day in the junk folder. Mail seems to employ the junk mail rule only after the app gets restarted. What gives ? I think that there's a problem with my mail app

Wish I knew how to fix this but you're better off than me - my mail.app marks messages as junk but only rarely (1 message once a week ago since I upgraded to tiger) actually moves them to the Junk folder. Glad to know I'm not the only one w/ problems though
