Hi there,

I've got WMP9 running on OSX 10.3 on a PowerBook on a broadband connection. WMP is set to use DSL
I've also got WMP10 running on WinXP on a Vaio on the same connection. WMP is also set for DSL speeds.

On the PeeCee I get 232mbps streaming, fairly clear and works really well

On the Mac I get, at best, 46kbps postage stamp sized

the site: http://bigbrother.3mobile.com.au if you want to see the problem (there are some posts in the forum there about other users with the same problem)

I found something really scary on MacOSXhints about editing the config (http://www.macosxhints.com/article.p...50415135510850) but frankly that scares the bejesus out of me (VIM makes me break out in a cold sweat) - if anyone has a copy of the file post editing I'd be happy to try it though !

I suspect it's a hiccup with the OSX version of WMP support for multi-bit-rate streaming... but I wanna see the housemates !

WMP for the Mac is basically a piece of sh-t. Blame Microsoft.

In a way, Cadaver is right but I am not sure if that's exactly the reason. I played those videos and I got 150Kbps constant. Everybody's connection speed is going to be different. Make sure you have your connection speed set to Cable/DSL or T1 in WMP preferences.
You should receive the same connection speed. If after you do this and you still get far better speed streaming in the Windows version then more than likely Microsoft enhances the Windows version which shouldn't come as a suprise but it's not because they cripple the Mac version.

Under most circumstances you should get the same speed results regardless of platform.
