Does anyone know a way to record video clips of the spin effect in Dashboard?

Apple can do it:
http://www.apple.com/macosx/theater/dashboard.html

but Snapz Pro 2 doesn't, it just doesn't show the effect.

Any ideas (not involving camcorders)?

I cannot test as my machine does not support all Core Image effects, but I am sure that Snapz Pro 2 won't record that, maybe Snapz Pro X will though

Anyway, is your card capable of doing those effects even without recording it with SPX?

Its just the spin effect I wanted to capture, I have a Gforce 2 which does that fine, no ripple on mine though.

It records it on mine, which does support Core Image. Interesting.

Curiouser and curiouser.

I suspect someone has disabled recording of the effects on machines with non programable GPU's.

Its a bit annoying as my machine is more than capable of doing it.

for an example of what snaps pro produces (on a non programable GPU machine) look here
http://homepage.mac.com/woodhams/mov...uler_tiger.mov

It does the spin on my machine, just not on the movie.
