Making Quicktime movies from DVDs. HELP!!

I was looking to put some of my DVD movies on my new iMac. I saw some of the Quicktime HD trailers and thought that making them .mov files would be really good. What do I need to do that? I search and found nothing.

I have heard about handbrake for making avi's, but I thought mov files might be better.
Let me know what you guys think. Or at least point me in the right direction.

Handbrake makes mp4 as well and can even do H.264 in the most recent version.
