Scarcely pausing for breath, Vroomfondel shouted, "We DON'T demand solid facts! What we demand is the total ABSENCE of solid facts. I demand that I may or may not be Vroomfondel!"

The BBC offer podcasts now, as do Engadget - although there doesn't seem to currently be any good software that:
a) Works with Tiger
b) Integrates with iTunes nicely
c) Is free
So I'm assuming Apple are going for the kill on this one, plus they've hinted at letting users submit their own content to the iTMS for serving purposes.

What about iPodder (ipodder.sourceforge.net)? It does all three.

I still wanna know why I can't have folders of playlists. Why can't I order them the way I want? Why does my ZZ Top stuff have to be a minute of scrolling down?
EX:
^Blues
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Albert King
Muddy Waters
I'm short on comparisons, but if you could make playlist sets so there would be some sort of hierarchy, preferably one I can order anyway I chose, then that would be nice.
The podcast thing is nice, but lil things like that above are more appreciated.

Are you joking? Am I missing some sarcasm of this post?
1. Highlighting the artist column in the browse window and type ZZ?
2. Playlists are virtual folders, you can create nested folders using smart playlists
3. Playlists can be ordered anyway you like. The top must bar has artist, genre, album or whatever you decided to put up there (type apple-J to see options). If you don't want it automatically ordered, click the left must column at the top and reorder your tunes in the order you want them played.

1. That's not a playlist; that's called Browsing.
2. There is no way order playlists, and there's no way to "nest" playlists in iTunes. You're confusing browsing with creating playlists. And advocating the creation of more playlists to organize playlists is silly.
3. Again, browsing != playlists. You can sort the browsing window. You cannot sort playlists.

Wow. Podcasting inside of iTunes would kick ass.
I shy away form it due to having to deal with extra software etc.
This might get more podcasts to offer Bookmarkable-AAC with the MP3 version.

1. You complained that you needed to scroll down for a minute to get to ZZTop, that suggests to me that you're browsing to ZZTop. You can get to the 1st ZZTop song in a play last by typing ZZ in the browse window or in the search field.
2. I don't understand what you mean by 'order' playlist. If you want a specific order, click the top bar to the left of 'song name'. This keeps the playlist in the order that you added songs AND you can drag songs into any order you want.
2a. If you are looking to play a subset of a playlist you can do that in 2 ways. Use the browse window to command click specific albums, artists, or genre OR use a smartplaylist to select your specific playlist and then limit it with your specific criteria. Not as easy (visually) as nested playlists, but offers the same functionality of 'nested' playlists.
3. Still not getting you. You CAN sort within playlists. If you want to place 4 playlists within one playlist then create a smart playlist that includes all 4 of those playlists or drag the 4 playlists in the order you want into a new playlist.
Sorry to get off topic. Personally I'd like to revert to iTunes 4.7 so I can save the music videos I watch. The new temporary .qtch files are encrypted and won't play with QT,VLC,or MPlayer.
I haven't tried any podcasts, so I'm speaking from ignorance here. The whole point of using my iPod is so I can play the music I want. Listening to podcasts seems like satellite radio or internet radio, neither of which have interested me in the past. Maybe when I get the new software I'll change my mind.

This would be killer. Hopefully, iTunes will allow you to convert to Bookmarkable-AAC if the feed is MP3.
When Jobs talks about iTunes integrating podcasts I really think he's talking about the whole distribution side of it too, via the iTMS. You know how he likes to 'own the whole show'....

.
bmedina is talking about sorting playlists in the sidebar. Currently they have to be in alphabetical order, when it would be better if you could drag them about (put your most frequent ones at the top, for instance).
Also, the talk of folders is like the folder use in iPhoto - playlists within a folder (also known as nested playlists). It's a much requested and needed feature, and as iPhoto has it there is no reason why iTunes should not either.

Ah, didn't quite get what he was saying. It would be nice if you could more easily move playlists around. I actually wouldn't mind this as much, but I've found an archaic system called numbers to order my playlists . This was more for my iPod then iTunes though.
Not pretty but it works

I hope it turns up soon...
For some reason at the moment iTunes quits EVERYTIME I try and play a song. Needless to say its extremely annoying. Can anyone help me?
[Edit:]
It was just when I tried to play one song for some reason. Think it was something to do with CPU load. Hmmm...

Turn browse mode on and show genre on then just click blues and it will filter out the other stuff. Same thing as you suggested really only a less windowsy solution.

I want them to fix the + and - buttons for adding/removing criteria in Smart Playlists. They are still using the ancient pre-10.2 style buttons for those, with a heavy shadow and a different shade of blue. What the hell?!

Interestingly, some websites are reporting seeing the user agent 'iTunes 4.9' in downloading their content, looks like it's not too far off now.

Yikes!
Not only that, if you hit plus too many times the window gets too tall and the OK/Cancel buttons go off the bottom of the screen! (Of course, on my 15" screen this is about 26 lines, so it's not very likely).
