Was messing around some with Quartz composer and was wondering if it would be able to do a screensaver that picked up some info from programs like Mail.app and iCal. Would be great to have a cool looking screensaver like RSS visualizer that showed how many unread mail messages and a to-do list etc.

Not much documentation on Quartz Composer so hoping that someone will have some idea if this could be done.

Technically possible - I'd have thought so.

I reckon you'd have to write your own cocoa screensaver and embed a QCView in it - as you'd be using external parameters.

You could use (Applescript / Spotlight Queries) internally to query the apps - then pass the data to the QC patch as parameters.
