Just noticed that Garage Band is taking 2-3 GB space in Applications support. What is going on there? If delete, and want it later, can I put it back? thanks.

Those are all of the Apple Loops. To get them back, you'd have to reinstall the program. If you want, you can copy them to another drive/location and then change the GarageBand prefs to point there instead. Useful if you have a big external drive and a smaller internal drive. (It may also speed it up a bit to have it on a separate drive, the same way Photoshop or FInal Cut Pro are faster with scratch disks... that's just speculation, though)

Well, I deleted that, then later today relaunched GB, and don't see any file at all in app support, so....?

BTW, apple was telling me that it wont be in Tiger. So if lost it, could you retrieve it, or other i life stuff from Panther CD?

Like i said, you have to reinstall the application to get them back. Load up the iLife DVD and reinstall GarageBand and it will copy the loops over again. If you never use GarageBand, it's probably better to just leave it off and save a couple GB.
