So I put GarageBand on my 450MHz 512 MB RAM Beige G3. I got rid of all the apple loops and some other stuff for now, though, because my hard drive space is very limited. I hooked up my guitar, added new track, chose real, then guitar. I can listen to No Effects and Accoustic Guitar Echos, but any of the other effects get all distorted and crazy. At one point, I actually got a Kernal Panic. So is this happening because the computer doesn't have enough oomph, or are there certain files I'm missing?

according to Apple's iLife page, the requirements for Garageband are:

600MHz G3 or faster required for GarageBand
G4 or G5 required for GarageBand software instruments
Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity...

Yep, I do remember reading that but I've found that lots of RAM sometimes makes up for a small lack of processor speed. Although in this case it's a big one. But the funny thing is that all the software instruments I've tried work perfectly, and the only real instrument effects it has trouble with are distort and a couple others. Which means almost all of the effects work perfectly. Except the ones I want.

The thing is, even on a G5 iMac, it's not terribly difficult to overload GB. It's a CPU hog, and the minimum requirements are, IMHO, well below the real minimum for usability.
