Ok, here is my problem. I've attempted to set up my Gmail account in the Apple Mail program. I followed the instructions Gmail provided to the letter creating a new, POP account that contains my Gmail information. However at this juncture I can only receive mail from my account, not send it. The outgoing ports that I was told to use apprently do not work. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is not working? For reference, here is the link Gmail provides to set up an account; http://gmail.google.com/support/bin/...y?answer=13275

Or, to make things easier, just setup a rule in your gmail settings to forward a copy of your emails to your Mail.

This is a computer-generated message and needs no signature.

If you were trying to set it up yesterday you could have encountered some problems because I believe Gmail were having problems. I couldn't send any messages for several hours.
Other than that it seems to often be luck. Apart from yesterday, and Mail's insistence on downloading multiple copies of each message when I first used it, I've had no issues; while others could never get it to work.
One think you might like to try is experimenting in setting your username (in Server Settings) as either "jeff25624" or "jeff25624@gmail.com" (just assuming you use that name).
There's lots on Apple's support discussion boards too if nothing here can get it working for you.

Set your outgoing mail server to the outgoing mail server of your main ISP mail account (just select it from the dropdown of outgoing mail servers). Leave the incoming mail server as gmail. When you send a gmail, it will "piggy back" on your ISP mail server. The recipient will not know the difference ... it will look just like it came from gmail. I have my gmail account working successfully this way for many many months.
In an effort to reduce spamming, several ISPs have blocked access to ALL outgoing mail servers other than their own so that they may regulate usage (number sent per hour, etc.). Again, this will be transparent both to the end recipient and to you when you are sending the email. You just simply don't have to use gmail's outgoing server in order to send mail from it.
