I think itunes library is one of those things that just can't be put on external HD, correct?

No, I'm not talking about the songs, sorry. I'm asking about the library. I have song, no problem on another HD

Just put an alias or symlink at ~/Music/iTunes, and stick the real iTunes folder anywhere you want.
