Suddenly, iphoto won't let me open photos, but ONLY the last import. I imported them last weekend and have opened many (and edited them) without incident. But now I can't. I can open a range of other photos without problems. I've tried changing the program that opens them to no avail. Nothing happens.

The only thing I can think of that's different (aside from attempting to rename them with Automator) is that one of my daughters was in the library finding photos for a web log she's setting up.

Could it be the Automator renaming -- which didn't work the way I wanted and which was ONLY for the most recent import -- or some other problem anyone can think of?

Well, I'm assuming it was renaming the files via automator AFTER I'd imported them into iphoto that caused the problem. Since I had a backup, I probably should have just killed the whole library and copied the backup, as then I wouldn't have lost my editing work. But instead, I just reimported the photos and started over.

So -- word to the wise. DON"T use automator to rename something in iphoto AFTEr yoou've already imported them. iphoto doesn't like this.
