OK, so I just upgraded to Tiger. It came with iChat AV 3. Previously, with iChat 2, I could connect my RCA DV camera for video chats and everything would work fine. Now, however, I get an 'camera is being used by another application' message every time I try to connect my camera, even though the only open application is iChat (except for the finder, of course). I have seen this issue in other forums, but so far I haven't found a solution for this problem. The apple support website, as usual, offers no help whatsoever. I wonder if anybody here has gotten the same problem, it seems to be quite common, and if anybody has figured a way of solving it. My camera works fine with iMovie, just iChat the problem.
Oh, and syncing my palm Tungsten 3 is another nightmare...but I'll get to that later....
