sigh, is there a way you can set stuffit to autoextract a file when you dbl click on it instead of it having to pop up a window showing you the contents of the archive each time? This is twice the work...

i like how tiger's built in .zip works, you dbl click on it, it auto extracts... can stuffit deluxe do this?

Also what is the difference between stuffit deluxe and stuffit expander?

Right click on the file, and set to open with "Stuffit Expander" as the default. If you have Stuffit Deluxe, the Stuffit Expander is in "Stuffit Deluxe>Stuffit Drag and Drop". Hope that helps. The icon is an open box with a white vertical arrow.

Expander does just that, it expands. Deluxe is the interface where you can do everything else (archive, compress, etc.). You can also expand with it, but as you've noticed it's a bit of overkill for when you just want to get access to the file(s) you just downloaded.
