Hi Folks,

I have recently lost 1280 emails in the mail.app program. I opened a new account, mail.app autoamtically transfered all of my inbox emails from my previous functioning account into the new account, have no idea why it did. I selected all and dragged all of the emails over to old account. Checked old account to be safe. All email headers were in old account. Deleted new account.

Next day, wake up, check old account, select an email header and the preview content box tells me that there is no content to the email and "must be downloaded from server." No luck, emails are pop and remove from server.

Tried finding emails in library>mail>myaccount >inbox, and there aren't even any of the new emails that I CAN see in that folder. Any idea if any of these emails are recoverable?! I would love some help.

On what version of the OS did this occur? That's one hell of a bug if what you describe actually happened. Unless you have a backup, it sounds like your email. . . is no more.

I guess you could restore them from your backup.

0S10.4.1. So where are the headers kept if the headers are in the email but the email content isn't? Yeah, really odd eh? So no way at all of finding these pretious emails?
