and by secure, I mean one from which the text cannot be selected and then copied?

I guess what needs to be done is to make each item on the page, be it text or images, one item so that none can be independently selected. I just don't know how to go about doing so.

i was going to suggest you put a transparent box over your text before you convert it to PDF, but that doesn't work.

Correct. I think Acrobat Professional is your only real solution. Apple's PDF tools don't have all the security features. There may be some shareware that'll do some of that, but I use Acrobat 7 Pro.
