I have a digital camera with 1GB storage. That means that I can take a few hundred images easily without running out of space. I don't always delete the images form the camera after importing them into iPhoto.

This usually result in iPhoto going through the already imported images and asking if I want to re-import them. Of course I select no after the first one, but iPhoto takes its time on most of the already imported images before skipping them.

Is there a way to speed this process up?

You could use the Image Capture app to download only 'some' items. However, you'd then have to drag the imported images into iPhoto.

Which is faster, depends.

(You can make the thumbnails in IC bigger, BTW, just look for a 'size' slider in 'Customize Toolbar...')
