Hi,
I imagine that other people have posted a similar question, but I can't find the answer.
My Mail application simply stopped connecting to my mail server. The mail server is still operating just fine, because I can connect via a web interface and read my mail. However, Apple's Mail program just stopped working. I haven't modified anything on my computer...no new installs, no new firewall configurations, no new hardware on the computer or the network. It was working great for 2 years, but suddenly stopped.
Thanks for any advice.

Are you sure the accounts are still online. Sometimes the mail accounts go offline and you have to take them back online again.

I'm able to check my mail via the ISP's web page interface to my mailbox, so I know that the mail server and account is still operating. My Mail application just isn't working.
It just occurred to me that I should mention that I'm running OS 10.3.9 ....haven't yet upgraded.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

By that I meant are the accounts online inside of Mail.
Go to Mailbox - Online Status and ensure they are online.

I'm not entirely sure that I understand your question. My Mail app is unable to get new mail, and is unable to send new mail. It tries to connect and then timesout after a minute or two. It then gives the "offline" little icon in the mailboxes area.

the Mail app is working again. it turns out that the hosting company switched ports for mail send/receive. They should have made an announcement before they did it. I think I'm going to switch hosts. Their mess-up caused me to be without mail for 7 business days.
Thanks everyone.
