i've just disabled the "other forms" radio button in safari's autofill preference, after noticing this morning, when i went to pay a bill online that safari 'auto-completed' my creditcard number after i typed the first four digits. since credit and debit cards tend to use a limited set of first four digits to identify the type of card [ie. visa, delta, maestro, switch etc] this means that if your computer fell into the wrong hands, someone could try a few of these commonly available four digit 'starter numbers' and have safari helpfully fill in the rest of your creditcard number for them.

probably seems obvious to most of you out there, but i hadnae considered this myself until i saw safari 'spill the beans' this morning - so i just thought i'd post it as a "heads up" to anyone else out there who's got the 'other forms' option set in safari's autofill prefs.

If my computer fell into the wrong hands, someone must have brocken into my appartment.
At that point, possibly stored CC numbers in auto-fill are the least of my problems. No issue for me...

Btw, if you use FileVault and have password protection on screensave on, you're as safe as your password is...
